Lieutenant Kathy Thompson

Lieutenant Kathy Thompson has been a police officer for more than 28 years. She is a graduate of the 83rd Session of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Academy and started her career with the Rialto Police Department as Reserve Police Officer in 1985. She was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2001.

Lieutenant Thompson has served as a Police officer, Field Training Officer, Detective, Patrol Sergeant, Detective Sergeant, Investigations Division Lieutenant, Administrative Services Lieutenant, and Patrol Watch Commander. She has become recognized as an expert in sexual assault investigations and was awarded the California Sexual Assault Investigators Association’s Annual Achievement Award for Excellence in Investigations.

Lieutenant Thompson has a Master of Arts in Organizational Management, a Bachelor of Science in Business Management, and an Associate of Arts in Communications. She holds the POST Management Certificate and is a graduate of the POST Executive Leadership Command College, Class 50. Additionally, Lieutenant Thompson is a member of the National Association of Women Law Enforcement Executives.
