Captain Andrew Karol
Captain Andrew Karol’s law enforcement career includes over twenty years of law enforcement experience with the City of Rialto, and as a Desert Storm Veteran, he spent five years active duty and three years reserves with the United States Marine Corps. Captain Karol served overseas with the 12th Marines, and was a member of the (SRT) Special Reaction Team.
Captain Karol is a graduate of the Sheriff Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute (SLI), Class #217. Captain Karol is also a graduate of the Police Executive Research Forum, Senior Management Institute for Police (SMIP), Class #63. Captain Karol holds a Bachelor's Degree and his State of California teaching credentials from California State University Long Beach. Captain Karol also holds a Master's degree in Public Administration from California State University Northridge.
Captain Karol has held a number of different assignments at the Department, to include: Patrol, Professional Standards, Field Training Officer (FTO), FTO Coordinator, Gang and Narcotics Investigator, SWAT team entry member, and SWAT Sniper team leader. Captain Karol has testified as an expert in gangs and narcotics and is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, California Police Chiefs Association, the Police Executive Research Forum, California Gang Investigators Association, California Peace Officers' Association, and the National Tactical Officers Association.
Captain Karol is currently assigned as the Operation’s Bureau Captain, which includes Patrol, IVS SWAT, Area Command, Traffic Division, K-9s, Animal Control, Dispatch, and School Resource Officer Program.
