Lieutenant James Kurkoske

Lt. Kurkoske started his law enforcement career with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in 1989. In 1990 he lateral-transferred to the Rialto Police Department where he has proudly worked for the past 23 years.

Lt. Kurkoske currently holds an Associate’s Degree from Coastline Community College, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Studies from Cal State Long Beach, and is working towards a Master’s Degree in Organizational Management. He is a graduate of the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute class 203 and has attended many command level tactical training seminars related to police tactics and crisis management.

Lt. Kurkoske has held a variety of assignments with the police department to include; Helicopter Observer, SCAT, Detectives, K-9, Field Training Officer (FTO), and SWAT. As a sergeant Lt. Kurkoske supervised Patrol, FTO Coordinator, Traffic Division, and worked on the Central Valley Narcotics Team. Lt. Kurkoske is also a member of the California Tactical Officers Association, National Tactical Officers Association, and the California Narcotics Officers Association.
