Citizen's Academy

The Rialto Police Department is currently accepting applications for the next Citizen's Academy class. Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis, and the next Citizen's Academy will be held October 2nd through December 11, 2014.

The academy will meet Thursdays from 6pm to 9pm for 10 weeks.

The Citizen’s Academy is designed to present residents with an understanding of the Police Department’s operations, which will provide a greater awareness and understanding of law enforcement’s role in our community. Each week, an inside look at police functions will be taught by police executives and veteran officers.

The Citizen’s Academy curriculum will include, among other things: criminal investigations, traffic laws, radio communications, drug and gang enforcement, police ethics, police K9s, SWAT, crisis negotiation, crime analysis, and patrol functions.

You will need to save the application to your computer prior to completing the form, otherwise the changes will not be saved nor transmitted through email. Paper applications can also be picked up at the Rialto Police Department, 128 N Willow Ave.

Applications must be submitted no later than Monday, September 15th. 

Class size is limited to about 40-45 attendees, due to site capacity limitations. Preference will be given first to Rialto residents. You must be at least 18 years of age; no felony convictions; no misdemeanor convictions within the last 3 years; and no pending criminal cases.
