| Community Outreach Unit
The Community Outreach Unit is under the direction of Lieutenant Joe Cirilo, and consists of Crime Prevention, Volunteers, Chaplains, Explorers, and School Resource Officer programs. |
| |
| The Crime Prevention Program
focuses on community member education. With the assistance of
Police Volunteers, citizens are educated on home security and
personal safety through out Neighborhood Watch program. Additionally,
businesses throughout our community learn the aspects of crime
prevention and customer safety through our Business Crime Watch
program. For more information on the Crime Prevention Program,
please visit our Community
Page. |

The Volunteer Program consists of civilian personnel who are willing to donate their time to the department. Volunteers handle a variety of tasks and assignments; the most visible of which is patrolling residential and business areas within the City. |
The Chaplain Program consists of six members of the clergy
within their prospective faiths. The chaplains assist officers
in many situations such as domestic violence counseling, family
illnesses, deaths and other significant incidents where the
citizen is distraught.
The Explorer Program gives youths and young adults
between the ages of fourteen and twenty-one an opportunity
to take an active role in serving their community, while learning
more about law enforcement.
The School Resource Officer Program was created in 1996 in a cooperative effort between the City of Rialto Police Department and the
Rialto
Unified
School District
. The School Resource Officer is an asset used by the community and the school district in an attempt to address situations in the lives of students in a manner other than within the judicial system.
The School Resource Officers provide the school, staff, and students with direct access to law enforcement personnel, which also provides for an immediate response to problems on and around the campus on a daily basis. The officers use a proactive approach to deal with the pressures today's youth encounter, and provide that liaison or mentoring/counseling relationship that would otherwise be unavailable.
As with all other Divisions within the Police Department, we
are here to serve our community. Should you have any questions,
feel free to contact Lieutenant Joe Cirilo by telephone at (909) 820-2594,
or e-mail at JCirilo@Rialtopd.com.
