Committed to our Community
Welcome to Rialto Police Department's Community Page. The men
and women of the Rialto Police Department not only serve the
City of Rialto, but are members of the community as well. Throughout
the year, Rialto Police Officers and staff play a large role
in supporting a number of community programs. This page contains
information about many of those programs, including the department's
Crime Prevention and School Resource Officer Programs, and other
activities that are available through the police department.
The Crime Prevention Program,
which is directed by the department's Community
Outreach Unit, focuses on community member education.
With the assistance of Police Volunteers, citizens are educated
on home security and personal safety through our Neighborhood
Watch program. Additionally, businesses throughout our community
learn the aspects of crime prevention and customer safety
through our Business Crime Watch program.
The Police Department's Annual Open House is also
coordinated through the Community
Outreach Unit and is held in October during Law
Enforcement Appreciation Week. The Open House gives members
of our community a chance to meet the officers and staff of
the Police Department and experience the various divisions
and specialized units within the department. Red Ribbon
Week is celebrated October 23-31, each year and promotes awareness of the dangers of drug and alcohol use.

The Traffic Unit participates in the Cinco de Mayo Festival to promote it's "Pitch Traffic Safety" to Kids program. The speed radar trailer is used to clock the fastest pitches from both children and adults. In addition, bike helmets and bike safety information are given away.
|
Each year the Traffic Unit conducts several Child Occupancy Safety Fairs. These events are a collaborative effort involving other law enforcement agencies, local hospitals, child safety organizations and local businesses. Certified child passenger safety seat technicians are on hand to assist.

The Police Department's Canine Unit
participates in the City of Rialto International
Festival. Canine demonstrations are conducted to
both showcase the officers and dogs abilities, and to
educate the community about the canine program.

The Southern California Law Enforcement Torch Run
involves more than 3500 officers who proudly carry the Special
Olympics Torch over 1,500 miles and through more than 200
communities. The mission of the Law Enforcement Torch Run
for Special Olympics is to raise funds for and awareness of
the Special Olympics movement worldwide. Law enforcement officers
from every state and more than 30 countries carry the Flame
of Hope in honor of the Special Olympics athletes in their
area and around the world. Rialto Police Department participates
by carrying the torch through a section of Western San Bernardino.
The Torch Run is the largest grassroots fundraising event
for Special Olympics.
Every year, police officers and sheriff's deputies add a
fun-filled spin to their public service as they assist Red
Lobster crewmembers in serving Red Lobster guests to earn
"tips" for the Special Olympics. This "Tip-A-Cop"
program begins February 18 and runs through May. During the
campaign, Red Lobster's 660 restaurants across North America
will have the opportunity to schedule Cops & Lobsters
events at lunch and dinner.
The
Baker to Vegas Challenge Cup is a 120-mile, 20-stage,

mountains, to Las Vegas, Nevada. The teams are restricted
to Law Enforcement teams (Police and Sheriff departments,
judges, bailiffs, and other agencies and service teams). All
of the teams are responsible for providing their own logistics
and support efforts, including communications. To view the

The
Community Academy is a 10-week program hosted by the
Rialto Police Department, and is open to all residents and
business owners in the City of Rialto. The purpose of the
academy is to provide the community an opportunity to meet
and interact with police personnel, who will take them through
the daily duties of the police officer and department. Officers
will teach various topics, which will provide valuable insight
and create a better understanding for those in attendance.
The Junior Police Academy is a youth program hosted by the Rialto Police Department. The purpose of the academy is to provide our youth the opportunity to meet and interact with police personnel, who will take them through the daily duties and routines of the police officers along with the working of the Department. Police officers will teach various topics, which will provide valuable insight and create a better understanding for those in attendance.
